“Art is something that has both blessed and brought strife to my life. Those limiting beliefs are but a wall to bounce off and land softly in the space of my artistic expression. Rejecting the notion of traditional artistic constraints and moving forward with a pencil at hand to live as who I've always wanted to be. To put it simply without art I wouldn’t be alive to share who I am within this world today."
Cameron Sigler (They/He) is a 31 year old Queer, Trans, Non-binary, Yucatec, and white multi-media visual artist with an emphasis on drawing currently residing in Vancouver, BC. Cameron's interest in art began as soon as they could hold a pencil and began to flourish as they grew. Cameron's style fluxes from plays on realism, nature, abstract, pop, ancestry, and still life. Cameron heavily utilizes colored pencils, acrylic paint, ink, graphic art, and natural products like bugs and plants. Cameron holds an associate degree in Graphic Design and is a self-taught artist gleaning from the teachings they learned in high school. Cameron's art teacher in high school had a profound influence on them and supported them to find themselves via large-scale painting projects, drawing, and graphic art. During their early years, Cameron discovered their vivacious love for drawing animals, mammals, sea creatures, bugs, and many other forms of wildlife. “I believe that my queerness is represented in the world outside of me and these creatures hold that queerness with me.”Cameron participated in an art cohort in December 2023 with TransCare+ (Canada) to create a piece relating to Queer Time. This piece will be part of an online pamphlet posted on the TransCare+ website in the beginning of 2024.
